Integrated LED Lighting Systems for Floating Stairs in Toronto, ON
Low-profile stair lighting integrated into treads, risers, and structural details during installation — not retrofitted after the fact. Better finish. No exposed conduit.
Toronto Floating Stairs installs integrated LED lighting systems for floating stairs in Toronto, ON — coordinated with the stair installation rather than added as an afterthought by a separate electrician.
Lighting that's retrofitted into a floating stair after installation almost always looks like it was retrofitted. Conduit runs along the underside of treads. Channel profiles are surface-mounted to finished steel. Junction boxes appear on walls that were already painted. The only way to achieve a truly integrated LED result is to plan the wiring routes, LED channel locations, and wall penetrations before the stair is installed.
We coordinate LED lighting scope during the design phase. Wire chases are routed through the stringer or within the wall cavity before drywall is closed. LED channels are recessed into tread undersides or tread nosings during fabrication, not cut in afterward. Wall penetrations for low-voltage power are positioned to be concealed by the stringer or tread overhang.
The most common application is under-tread linear LED strip — a continuous line of light along the underside edge of each tread, casting downward wash onto the tread below and the floor landing. This creates a nighttime effect where the stair glows with minimal fixture visibility during the day. Side-step lighting is a similar approach but mounted on the stringer face rather than the tread underside — it's more visible during day use but has a slightly different aesthetic character.
We work with your electrician or coordinate directly with a licensed electrical contractor for the final connection. LED drivers, dimmer switches, and smart home integration (Lutron, Control4) can be specified at the design stage.
LED lighting options we integrate
Under-tread linear strip (the most common), nosing-integrated linear slot, side-step linear strip on stringer face, wall wash lighting adjacent to the stringer, and glass balustrade base lighting for glass panel systems. All options use high-CRI LED strip in 2700K or 3000K colour temperature for residential applications, or adjustable colour temperature for commercial projects.
